Manna Ministry
The Need
Kampala is home to many people in need. Some are refugees who have fled war-torn areas in other countries with only the rags on their backs. Some have been victims of Joseph Kony’s LRA rebel activity in northern Uganda and have been brought to Kampala in trucks and dumped with nowhere to go and with no hope. Many have HIV and other diseases. Many are children. Almost all need job skills and language skills. All just need to know that someone cares about them. Their physical needs are different, but they all need the love of Christ.

What Is Manna Ministry?
Manna Ministry draws its name from the Old Testament. As the children of Israel journeyed from Egypt to Israel through the wilderness, God provided food for them. The people of Israel called it “manna”. Manna Ministry is designed to help people through their wilderness time, their own personal crisis.
How does Manna help?

Manna Ministry seeks to meet the physical and spiritual needs of some of the poorest of the people of Kampala by providing them with food for a limited period of time and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Currently, Manna currently has resources to help 100 families who are refugees, displaced, or HIV affected (about 600 people). Volunteers from KCCN screen applicants and those accepted into the program receive spiritual counseling and food for their families for six months. The Kampala Ministry Center staff and KCCN volunteers set up a tent on site, and approved families gather to receive one month's food supply. KCCN volunteers help to distribute food and also lead Bible studies for those who come. KCCN leaders help those who receive Christ to form new house churches where they are. Recipients also have the opportunity to participate in Bible Way Correspondence School. After the six months are over, the family must wait six months before applying for food again.
What does Manna Ministry cost?
It costs about $64,200 a year; $5,350 a month to operate Manna.
It costs about $53.50 a month for a family of up to 6 people.
